Interview with Eyal G. Moyal

Full Name: Eyal G. MoyalEyal G. Moyal

Born: 1981
Gender: Male
Nationality: Israel

1. How do you come to develop such deep passion for endurance sports, especially triathlon?
Over the years I challenged myself to increase the distances. I am a true believer that it is all in the mind. I believe in will power being a major key in success.

2. We know that you have been a strong supporter of Tri480 Israel GoLong Challenge. Can you tell us more about this event and what you like about it?
I am more than a strong supporter of the Tri480 Israel GoLong Challenge, I am the first to complete it (2010 and 2012) and the founder of the event. 2015 will mark the first year it will be open to other athletes. The Tri480 Israel GoLong Challenge is a race against the mind, proving the ability of mind over body. This is the longest and toughest race in Israel, covering 480 KM from the northern tip to the southern tip of the country, passing through the lowest point on earth, the Dead Sea. The 480 KM are made up of a 65 KM run, 10 KM swim and 405 KM bike ride.

3. We know that you have been very active as a coach. You founded GoLong. How has being a coach cause yourself to improve as an athlete, if at all?
Being a coach has made me a better athlete because I set an example to my athletes. As a coach I often tell my athletes that they should have a goal, and should work and train towards it. I teach them that “if there is a will, there is a way” and that “it is all in the mind”!

4. Can you tell me more about GoLong?
GoLong is Israel’s Long Distance Training Center, focusing on training and preparing athletes for long distance running and triathlon events. We also coach Masters Swimming and hold TRX Suspension Training sessions for athletes of all levels.

5. What is the best coaching advice you can give to someone who wants to try an ultra triathlon?
Make sure that you set a realistic goal, understand what you are entering, make sure to have professional advice when building your training program and race calendar, most importantly surround yourself in people who support you and most importantly believe in yourself.

6. What are your favorite workout sessions?
My favorite workout session is transition training, where all three (or just cycling and running) are present in the session.

7. What goals do you have for yourself - as a coach and triathlete?
As a coach I would like to see all of my athletes reach their goals. As an athlete I would like to have the time to train for the world championships and do well there.

8. What should people know about Eyal Moyal ?
I have been a triathlete since 1990 and that makes me one of the first triathletes in Israel. I am always hungry for new challenges. My favorite color is red.
