The record must be achieved in an IUTA sanctioned race.

The record must be achieved on measured bike and run tracks by an independent local authority; the measurement protocol must be handed over to IUTA.

The event may not be a point-to-point race; elevation meters must accumulate to zero.

An electronic time system must count laps and individual bike and run times; organizers provide the laps and times for every new best time to IUTA.

A negative doping test for the corresponding athlete is required, following WADA and IUTA rules.
